Women Shaping the Digital Economy

The Women InTech Forum at the Connected Kenya Summit 2023 is a symphony of voices set to bring change on the 4th of April 2023. This year's theme, "Women Shaping the Digital Economy" echoes the African proverb, "If you educate a man, you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman, you educate a nation."

Just like the baobab tree, women have been the pillars of innovation, growth, and development in the digital economy. Despite the thorns of gender disparities, women have continued to be the driving force, breaking barriers and achieving great success in the digital space.
The Women in Tech Forum invites industry experts, visionaries and allies working in technology-driven sectors to exchange ideas on opportunities, access, and empowerment of women in shaping the digital economy. The discussions will feature professionals and leading technology experts who are at the forefront of driving the digital economy.

The symphony will explore how all societal actors, including governments, the private sector, academia, civil society, industry bodies, and individuals can play a crucial role in ensuring equal access for women to technology, funding, and other resources. Together, we can create a safe and secure environment for women and girls, involving the fight against cyberviolence, discrimination, and stereotypes affecting women in cyberspace.

Improving access to skills, entrepreneurship, and leadership will result in more diverse opportunities, higher financial returns, and access to new markets for women in the digital economy.
Join the symphony and be part of the change that will create a sustainable, just, and equitable digital economy.

As the African proverb goes, "A bird cannot fly with one wing," and just like the baobab tree, women are the second wing that completes the flight towards a better digital future for all.
